Microsoft Office 365 for Education provides staff, faculty, and students with email, online document editing and storage, access to the Office Web Apps, and Office 365 ProPlus which includes Microsoft Office for Windows and Mac at no additional cost. Office 365 Apps and OneDrive You will retain access for one calendar year after your Left UT date. After the one year period, access to the files stored in your UTK OneDrive for Business will be unavailable and the files deleted by Microsoft. Microsoft provides instructions on their website for migrating your data.

Office 365 ProPlus Installation Guide for Mac

Microsoft Office 2019 for Mac is now available for Faculty and Staff running macOS Sierra 10.13.6 or later. To download Office 2019, log in to your Office 365 Organizational Account at https://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx or follow the instructions below. Additional information, including eligibility requirements, is available online at http://oit.utk.edu/proplus.

Reference

  1. Log in to your Office 365 Account (http://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx.)
    1. Username: netid@utk.edu (staff/faculty) | netid@vols.utk.edu (students)
    2. Password: NetID Password
  2. The page will display what Office options are available for you. Click the Install Office button to install Office.
    • Note: If you are running macOS 10.10 through 10.12.6, there is an option to download Office 365 for those versions.
  3. Once the download completes, double-click the package file to run the installer.
  4. After you have completed the install process, open an Office application (such as Word) and you will be prompted to click Sign In To Activate.
  5. On the next screen, enter your netid@utk.edu (staff/faculty) | netid@vols.utk.edu (students) click Next.
  6. If you are prompted to choose the Microsoft account or Work account, choose Work Account.
  7. Enter your password and click Sign In. Your Mac may prompt you that 'Microsoft Office Setup Assistant would like to access your contacts.' click OK.
  8. Once you have finished activation, your application should open and be ready for use.
